■ FLO-2D is a dynamic flood routing model for delineating flood hazards. It is used to analyze a diverse spectrum of flooding problems including river floodwave progression, overbank flooding, unconfined alluvial fan floods, urban flooding, rainfall/runoff, coastal flooding and mud and debris flows. The key features of the FLO-2D model are the simulation of unconfined two-dimensional flooding, complete hydrograph flood routing and floodwave attenuation, integrated hydrologic rainfall/runoff and channel routing, channel-floodplain exchange flow, volume conservation, and no complex hot starts or boundary conditions. FLO-2D is a FEMA approved hydraulic model for both riverine and unconfined surface flooding.
　

FLO-2D has utility for complex flood problems such as channel split flow, multiple channel flow, large river flooding over unconfined surfaces of variable topography/roughness with return flow to the channel, and coastal surge flooding in urban areas. Flood applications can be enhanced with model components such as infiltration, levees and levee failure, hydraulic structures, or street flow. Storage loss due to buildings or flow path obstruction can also be modeled.

FLO-2D is used by agencies, consultants and floodplain managers worldwide on large river systems, large and small catchment basins, urbanized alluvial fans and vast array of complex projects including routing landslide dam breaks, levee breaches flooding, tsunami urban flooding, local flooding of street intersections, river estuary flood response and river restoration.
